Wedding season is here and it’s all about the vintage… entertainment!

Bombshell Belles Vintage Wedding
Summer is such a wonderful time of year as love is in the air, wedding bells are chiming and our vintage acts are busy travelling to entertain newlyweds across the UK. Over the past few weeks, our Vintage Vocal and Piano and Bombshell Belles have performed at some truly stunning wedding venues, including Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, Pendrell Hall, Aspire Leeds and the fabulous Coombe Abbey.

We’re fully stocked up on confetti as there are many more special occasions yet to come, with more performances planned for our blushing Belles and VVP, as well as our Vintage Sax, Vintage Vocalists and The Hollywood Starlets.

Planning your big day and thinking of a theme or something different? Take a look at our top tips for what to consider when booking vintage entertainment for your wedding…

Something Old…

Incorporating music from yesteryear into your special day can help shape a theme or sentiment you’d like to convey. Whilst looking ahead to the future, weddings are also a time for reflection and listening to meaningful songs is the best way to spark fond memories between you or your guests.

Something New…

Weddings offer brides and grooms the opportunity to demonstrate their personality and style, and over recent years going vintage has become a popular trend. Though many may find nostalgic music appealing, offering a selection of modern songs also will ensure all guests are entertained.

Something Borrowed…

Walk up the aisle to piano melodies, greet guests to the wedding breakfast with saxophone sounds or get people on the dancefloor with a full live band; music can form part or all of the occasion. While the entertainers will leave at the end of the day, the memories you can keep for a lifetime.

…Something Blue?

A day of romance and heartfelt declarations, no wedding would be complete without a tender ballad that captures the feelings you have for your loved one. Old or new, there is a song that will hold special meaning to any couple as they take their first dance as man and wife.

No need for the silver sixpence in her shoe, but…

  • Decide on your theme – choosing a theme early will make it easier to plan out the day. If you’re unsure, experienced entertainment specialists can provide suggestions.
  • Book an accommodating venue – if you are certain about wanting entertainment, make sure your wedding venue allows space for the performers and their equipment.
  • Get your timings right – once you know the times of the ceremony and afternoon breakfast you can get a clearer idea of when you’d like music to be played.
  • Choose professional artistes – self-contained performers will provide their own PA, microphones and speakers which should all be included within the quote you are given.
  • Any requests? Ask the artistes for a set list in advance to ensure you’re happy with the music choices and get your requests in early if you have a special song or two you’d like to hear.

Boy, those Belles can Boogie Woogie!

Bombshell Belles - May 2016

Over the past few weeks our wartime pin-ups, The Bombshell Belles, have been wearing down their heels and Ruby Woo lipsticks at a number of notable events across the land – and overseas.

Kicking off the start of the month, the Belles returned to Listowel Military Tattoo for the Bank Holiday event which commemorates the Irish men and women who made considerable sacrifices whilst in the line of duty. Having performed there for several consecutive years previously, they knew to expect a nostalgic weekend of military re-enactments, WW2 vehicle displays, street parties and, of course, an evening of 40s-style entertainment at the Hangar Dance, where they performed their trademark harmonies.

With a brief return back to the mainland, the Belles then made their way over to the Isle of Man for the Album conference at Villa Marina. Joined by the Bombshell Band, they were greeted by glorious sunshine as they arrived at the annual event for the Association of Local Bus Managers and were delighted to see the vintage buses, trams and trains on display. Even more exciting for the Belles was when they stumbled across culinary dreamboats, The Hairy Bikers, who sat at top table, swaying along as they were serenaded by Bombshells Katie, Stacey and Emily.

Tummies filled with mammoth Manx breakfasts served on shovels (not courtesy of Hairy Bikers, Simon and Dave), the Belles then headed home before going to Leeds for the England Team Awards Dinner 2016. Hosted by Clare Balding, the prestigious event brought together the best players from the England Cricket Team for an evening of highlights from the past year, award presentations and live entertainment – which was happily supplied by our very own Bombshell Belles.

In between these wonderful events, our Belles have still managed to cram in rehearsing for the new production, “In The Mood” which features The American Patrol Swing Band. An upbeat show packed with memorable music from the 1940s and 50s, it is the latest creation from our director, Katie, who has been working tirelessly to perfect the running order, musical arrangements, choreography, costumes and everything else that is involved in producing a show of the highest Revival Live UK calibre. It all came together in time for the opening show at Wicksteed Park on 17th May which was well received by the first audience of the season.

All this and it’s not even the end of the month… But, there’s no sign of the Belles applying the brakes any time soon as they continue through May and June with a run of daytime performances with “In The Mood”, return to Coombe Abbey Hotel for more “Back to the Forties” evenings, appear at the Daily Mail Chalke Valley History Festival and the 1940s Summer Ball at Dallas Burston Polo Club… And there are lots of private functions along the way!

Whew! The Bombshell Belles are certainly busy but there’s room for fun along the way and they always make time for a ‘Beer Barrel Polka’. Roll out the barrel…

The D-Day Darlings make the decade – Happy 10th Birthday!

A Decade of The D-Day Darlings

It’s a busy time for birthdays here at Revival Live UK as we’ve not only been filming a special tribute to the Queen for her 90th birthday celebrations, we have a milestone of our own to shout about as our wartime trio The D-Day Darlings reach their 10th year anniversary.

Since forming in 2006, the 1940s group has become known as ‘The Forces’ Favourite Sweethearts’, having performed at a number of notable military events, toured theatres with the acclaimed production, “The Songs That Won The War” and worked closely in partnership with The Royal British Legion to raise funds and awareness for the Armed Forces.

Over the past 10 years, major accolades have included performances at The Festival of Remembrance, The Churchill War Rooms, The Imperial War Museum and The Guernsey Liberation Festival. Receiving a note from Dame Vera Lynn expressing her support for the Darlings was also a monumental honour – particularly as she is, of course, such a huge inspiration behind the show.

In order to keep up with demand around big anniversaries and commemorative occasions, we have enlisted more songbirds to join our troupe of Darlings, bringing our total to ten – a Darling for each year. Great news for us as this not only opens up our RBL fundraising capabilities, it means The D-Day Darlings can increase their reach whilst spreading their patriotic spirit and morale-boosting 40s music across the country and beyond.

It is hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since we started those first rehearsals to master the harmonies, hairdos and the perfect salute. Having gone from strength to strength since those early days, we are now looking forward to another busy year ahead, with performances booked at military occasions, 1940s events and theatres across the country.

We are so pleased to be sharing a landmark birthday with Her Majesty and will be following the celebrations all the way through to The Patron’s Lunch on 12th June. Excitingly, we can now also reveal that The D-Day Darlings have put together a special video tribute for the Queen to show our appreciation of everything has done for Britain – it will be available on our YouTube channel shortly. We also have a number of competitions, giveaways and offers coming up for our own loyal followers – old and new – so be sure to keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Raise a glass with us as we toast to The D-Day Darlings continuing to keep the wartime spirit alive… May there be many more delightful Darlings and decades to come. Happy Birthday Darlings!

Casting Call: The Creatives are holding Christmas show auditions in London!

Dance Attic Studios

It’s been a whirlwind of a year with new branding, new appointments and new shows being launched alongside our usual activities. We’re not planning to slow down any time soon – in fact, we’re looking ahead to the festive season as we prepare to finalise the line-up for our Christmas show; written and produced by Company Director, Katie Ashby.

The production is a ‘Carry On’ inspired musical comedy set in Santa’s workshop and will feature a selection of popular Christmas music from various genres. There are 37 matinee performances lined up to appear at the Pavilion Theatre in Kettering, with all the dates running during the week – no Saturdays!

All we need now is to find the right cast members for the parts and so the Revival Live UK creatives will be heading to the bright lights, big city in June to hold auditions to do just that.

We’re looking for experienced male and female performers of all shapes, sizes and ages with skilled vocal, acting and dance or movement ability. Of particular interest are performers who can capture the style of the Carry On era in performance, vocal style and image. Strong acting skills and good comedy timing are also desired for each role with playing ages ranging from 20 to 50 years.

It’s an exciting time for our vintage entertainment company as we have other brand new productions set to launch in 2017. As we’ll have Spring and Autumn contracts to offer, we hope we’ll meet artistes of the highest standard at our auditions – professional entertainers who work well within a team so they can join our troupe of top class performers.

Keeping with the vintage theme, our auditions will be held at the rather charming listed building that is now the home of Dance Attic Studios. Built in 1902, it was previously open as The Fulham Baths and whilst it is now better known for dance classes and rehearsal space, it still holds a lot of history in its walls – a perfect setting for us nostalgia nuts!

The whole creative team will be heading down to London on Wednesday 8th June, with our producer and casting consultant greeting auditionees. On hand to run through some practised routines will be our musical director and choreographer, whilst our technical crew will ensure everything runs smoothly throughout the day. Our marketing director will also be there capturing key moments throughout the day.

For anyone that is interested in auditioning, they must be able to attend on the day and be available for a 3-week rehearsal period in September-October. For more information contact Katie Ashby.

Experience the best of World War II

Complete World War II Experience

Having recently secured a contract to provide a complete entertainment programme for a Battle of Britain Ball later this year, Revival Live UK are excited to announce details of “The Complete World War II Experience”, which is proving to be popular for many other military events across the UK.

We have a lot of experience of working with the Armed Forces, with our D-Day Darlings and Bombshell Belles performing at a number of regimental dinners, commemorative parades and military festivals throughout the past ten years. During this time, we have gained a clear understanding of how to theme such events which is why we decided it was time to put together a comprehensive package that provides clients with an all-encompassing wartime entertainment experience – without the hassle of having to deal with individual acts or agencies.

A major consideration for military bases when organising such events is reliability, and organisers generally approach agencies to provide the entertainment element as they feel safeguarded against the possibility of acts not turning up on time – or worse, not at all. As we produce and source all of our performers in-house, we offer the same security as an agency with the added benefit of a built-in consultancy service. This ensures a clear schedule is mapped out well in advance so the client doesn’t have to worry about the timings or logistics leading up to, or on the day of, the event.

Entertainment organiser for RAF Waddington, who recently approached us for an upcoming Battle of Britain event recently stated: “As a full-service production company, Revival Live UK, offers a multitude of top quality performers and provides the assurance I need to know the night’s entertainment will run smoothly.” Nicely put, thank you!

Whilst we may be adding to our offering in the future, “The Complete World War II Experience” currently comprises our ‘Forces Sweetheart’ 40s vocalist, delightful wartime trio ‘The D-Day Darlings’ and our pin-up harmonists ‘The Bombshell Belles’, as well as a Glenn Miller Dance Band, a Winston Churchill impersonator, a George Formby tribute and our impeccably sassy dancers, ‘The Swing Twins’. This impressive line-up can be tailored to suit the budget, theme or venue of any occasion.

It’s such an honour to be a part of any event which pays tribute to our country’s history; the music and memories of the 1940s is what initially inspired Revival Live UK. Now, as interest for our WW2 offerings seems to be on the rise, we look ahead as we continue to provide high class entertainment which captures the right style of any forties or wartime event. Hopefully that’ll lead us to waving our flags at many more military establishments, museums and railways over the next few years!

These kids know how to party!

An awe-inspiring show encapsulating the enchanting legacy of Disney.

Being specialists in vintage-style entertainment, we naturally arrange a variety of events which are, of course, lots of fun but generally adult-oriented… Until recently. Since the launch of our “Magical Kingdom Songbook”, we’ve been getting rather busy in the field of children’s entertainment, with bookings coming in for various occasions across the UK.

Our Disney-inspired show was released just before research was published last year into the average spend on children’s parties, which according to Asda, tallied up to more than £19,000 over a child’s lifetime! While it was, in fact, a coincidence that our production ‘was born’ as these figures were released, we have since discovered first-hand from parents that luxury entertainment for their little ones’ special days is much sought after.

With bookings ranging from pop-up theatre shows to ‘Princess Party packages’, The Magical Kingdom Songbook is going to be entertaining children – big and small – across the country. We’ve also had interest from hotels for afternoon teas and holiday resorts to run the show as a feature for themed breaks – further indication that entertainment for younger ones is being taken more seriously than ever. Exciting times for us at Revival Live UK, but also (we hope) for all those youngsters who will be seeing our princes and princesses perform over the coming months.

And what do they have to look forward to? Well… dressed in authentic costumes, our cast create a fairytale setting as they perform some of the most enchanting songs from the most popular Disney films. With songs from the classic films such as ‘Beauty and the Best’, ‘Aladdin’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’, the big kids of the audience are sure to enjoy a trip down memory lane whilst the younger guests sing along through to the newer hits from ‘Frozen’ and ‘Tangled’.

Whilst we’re aware parents want to make each celebration memorable for the little people in their lives, we are also mindful that they can be a big expense. That’s why we offer a range of packages to suit all budgets; so the grown-ups can focus on getting the goody bags and party games sorted, instead of worrying about the entertainment being too pricey – or not being a good standard.

Whatever trends come and go, it looks like children’s parties are only set to get more extravagant; our Magical Kingdom Songbook will ensure they are simply unforgettable.

Feeling the love at The National Wedding Show

Good times at The National Wedding Show

Good times at The National Wedding Show

It’s been a couple of weeks since we exhibited at The National Wedding Show in Birmingham and we have been inundated with enquiries (and bookings) for our vintage acts to perform at upcoming weddings, as well as other events – both private and public.

We always have a blast at TNWS, showcasing some of our most popular shows including The Bombshell Belles, Vintage Vocal & Piano and Vintage Sax, amongst others. While it’s a busy few days – especially when we have shows out on the evenings too – it’s great to meet lots of brides and grooms to be excitedly making plans for their special day.

As ever, we were situated right by the vintage café area where visitors stop for a lovely afternoon tea and perhaps a glass of bubbles. Whilst they re-energise and recap over the suppliers they have stumbled across throughout the day, they hear a tune or few performed by our acts and many sing or clap along with us. Many stopped by our stand after to offer positive feedback and ask for song requests, something we’re always happy to accommodate!

This time around we have received enquiries for our shows to perform at weddings and civil ceremonies across the UK as well as overseas. We’re always happy to travel and so look forward to performing at those that have already booked our acts through to 2018; from Kent to Catalonia, Durham to Dubai, and many others in between, our performers have a busy few years ahead.

Interestingly, what we discovered yet again this year is that vintage never goes out of style – great news for us, being vintage entertainment specialists! We’ve had couples approach us with various themes, from smoky jazz café and forties afternoon tea parties right through to more quirky electro-swing celebrations. This has resulted in bookings for our Oceans Party Band, Vintage Vocals, Vintage Sax, The Bombshell Belles and The Hollywood Starlets.

As we provide bespoke entertainment packages to suit, we have also confirmed several weddings for which we will provide vintage music from the ceremonies right through to last orders. This combines a mixture of our acts, depending on the theme and setting of each wedding. For those looking for inspiration on a vintage themed-wedding, check out our blog on The National Wedding Show website here.

It is always a pleasure to provide quality entertainment for such special occasions and we are happy that vintage styles are still much sought after. We have many weddings now booked throughout the next few years and hope to have many more – but with our acts in high demand we’d suggest you get in touch soon, whilst we have availability.

Revival Live UK new website now, errr… Live!

Cheers to the new brand and website launched by Revival Live UK

The Bombshell Belles and Jarek Pyc toast to our new brand and website.

We are very excited to have finally launched our new website, after nearly a full year in development!

Having experienced such rapid growth over the past few years, we knew it was necessary to create a hub for all of our acts, theatre productions and services. With so many new shows being regularly added to our portfolio, having a platform to showcase them all in a clear and accessible format is essential; not only to appeal to potential bookers but to keep our followers up to date with their favourite vintage performers and musicals.

Established in 2006, we began our days as Revival Live Productions, with The D-Day Darlings and Oceans Band forming our main initial offerings. Both acts achieved considerable success which led us to create other shows that fall in line with our love of all things vintage. Going from strength to strength, we devised a creative team that delivers a comprehensive event service which produces and organises bespoke entertainment packages for a number of venues and events. It is perhaps no wonder that our brand took a bit of a backseat!

After lots of time, thought and careful planning from our talented team of creatives, we are now proud to announce ourselves as Revival Live UK; the vintage entertainment company. We believe this name, along with our spanking new logo captures everything that we do and all that we stand for – entertainment which fuses together the music and styles of years gone by with a fresh and modern delivery.

Looking ahead, our main aim for the new website is to make it easier for our followers and potential clients to find out all they would like to know about Revival Live UK and what we can offer. This is why we have worked tirelessly to create a site which is faster, easier to navigate and easier for us to manage/update! Here at, you will find details of our offerings along with photos, videos and audio clips, as well as information on upcoming performances.

We hope that you enjoy finding your way around our spiffy new site but if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Keep your eyes peeled for any future additions to our portfolio – we have many exciting projects on the boil and would love to keep you informed.
