Riverside Studios – Performance Academy

Our aim at Riverside Studios is to help each of our students on their paths to success. Naturally, each individual’s interpretation of success will differ according to their own goals and ambitions as a singer or musician. Therefore, we begin by having an informal chat with each student to better understand what they want to achieve and what their current skillset is. From there, we will designate a tutor who will relate best to their requirements and formulate a syllabus for our students to follow.

All our tutors have been fully DBS-checked. They are industry-leading professionals who are seasoned entertainers or touring musicians themselves and are fully experienced in teaching a range of performance techniques.

VOCAL ACADEMY

Having mastered the art through their own careers as performers, our tutors are adept at helping students develop skills such as song delivery, storytelling through song and how to evoke emotion and feelings through song. Through a tailored program of theory and practical exercises, students will learn about the anatomy of the voice and the mechanism of singing which will help them to discover how to build on their own vocal style and sound using healthy practices, without developing any tensions. They will also be educated in voice placement, expression and projection which will stretch and develop their vocal strength and technique. As their confidence and abilities grow, our students will be able to make a song their own and understand how to recreate the style and sounds of different musical genres. Of course, singing is only one aspect to becoming an outstanding performer. The ability to engage an audience is a fundamental skill which any aspiring or professional singer needs to master if they are to build a successful career as an entertainer. Our vocal coaches will teach advanced students or professional singers how to shape their act and offer audience participationtechniques, as well as provide advice on image and approach, how to order set lists and even how to deal with clients. Budding artistes just starting out in the industry can benefit from similar coaching but can also improve other areas by learning audition techniques, how to approach agents, managers and venues and how to source backing music if required. Our coaches can also help students to find the right sound equipment and with our bespoke technical courses, they can learn how to set up and efficiently maintain their equipment. Our experienced team of vocal coaches can support those pursing an academic path and help students to advance through grades – whether training to qualify with ABRSM, RSL or Trinity College London exams.

MUSIC ACADEMY

Learning how to play an instrument presents many more benefits than the obvious perk of being able to create harmonious tunes with ease. Of course, this may be the main appeal initially – other than simply wanting to explore your passion for music. Becoming a musician is not just about acquiring a new skill; it is an outlet and an enjoyable way to express yourself. You can meet new people, learn more about the history of music and discover more about yourself than you ever thought possible – your likes, your strengths, your abilities. Whether you’re a beginner seeking out a new hobby or you have some experience and are now looking to make a career out of performing, structured tuition with a professional will increase your potential, boost your confidence and strengthen your belief in your own talents. Our team of music teachers are fully experienced musicians and are all seasoned performers in their own rights. Having in-depth knowledge of various teaching methods and courses - and experiencing the industry first-hand – puts them in a prime position to educate students. Lessons follow a structured syllabus format, combining the official grading systems including – but not limited to - Rockschool, Trinity, Guildhall, ABRSM, London College of Music and RGT@LCM. Whether you’re seeking a general, all-encompassing program to follow, or working towards specific qualifications - wewill tailor your course accordingly to deliver outstanding results. Riverside Studios presents a fun, relaxed and supportive environment where students can begin to get the most out of their instruments and focus on developing their practical skills. No matter your age, ambition, skillset or chosen instrument, we offer arange of classes to suit. As Riverside Studios is also home to our production company, Revival Live UK, we will be producing academy concerts and shows throughout the year which the students can take part in. This will give them the chance to put all their new skills into practice while gaining experience of performing in front of a live audience where they can demonstrate their achievements to family and friends. There will also be opportunities to audition for our future acts and productions – we have many new shows in the pipeline and we’re always on the lookout for new talent!
